Pattern on curved surface

Hi everyone,

I'mtrying to create a pattern on a formed surface but I need thepattern not to distort asit goes round the surface. The surface curves in a number of directions. Does anyone know of a way to do this wether it is by wrapping images, sheet metal or anyother method?

Can't seem to upload the picture but can e-mail it if necessary though will try again tomorrow.

Thanks

I have not tried it on a formed surface, but here are the settings I typically use:

Direction 1: select curve (sketched)

curve method: offset curve

alignment method: tangent to curve

features to pattern: select features

You may need to create a sketch on a plane, then project it onto the curved surface to use as the direction curve. If this does not work, try creating a 3DSketch and converting the projected curve. Use the 3DSketch curve and see if it works.

I had an issue where I need to create a sweep, and it was better to reference the 3DSketch converted from the projected curve, than the projected curve itself.
