Pattern with random combinations

Hi All,


I am creating the pattern as shown below. My Requirementis to get the similar type of hole pattern driven by relations. Whenever I change the length and width of the base plate number of holes in both the directions should change accordingly. And also in few cases, some of the holes which is there in the pattern needs to be removed.


Could any help me out?

I have already tried the same method. But I could not control the vertical hole to hole control. Is there aby other way to achieve this?

PS. Another option would be to use relations......Not sure myself what to do there but others (Vlad) may be up to it....

As I see it you have the holes in random places, there is no pattern sort of speak to where they are.


So you're only option will be pattern table, which makes holes in random places using x,y coordiantes to place the holes. Like that upper left corner will be your 0,0 position and from there all the holes will be dimensioned.


Maybe if you give us a little more info where you want the holes to be, what dimension should be between them, how many holes.If you can, try to post how it will look the finished part with all the holes.


Like Kev suggested, this is how a fill pattern looks like, maybe the diamond shape is what you need.
This example shows creating a fill pattern to drill a pattern of holes in a plate. The original part is shown in the following illustration.

  1. Select the hole and click
    i_pattern.gif
    in the Edit Features toolbar.

    Select Fill from the drop-down list box of pattern types in the dialog bar.

    Click References > Define to sketch the fill area.

    Select the top surface of the part as the sketching plane.

    Use the edges of the part to create the sketch. If you are using the Intent Manager in Sketcher, click Sketch > Edge > Use > Loop and select an edge of the part. This way, the fill area includes the whole part. When you exit Sketcher, the system displays the default grid, as shown in the next illustration.

  1. Select Diamond from the drop-down list box of grid types in the dialog bar. Modify the value that sets the spacing between pattern member centers, if needed. Specify the minimum distance between the pattern member centers and the sketch boundary, equal to the distance of the original hole feature from the part edges. The system updates the pattern grid, as shown in the following illustration.

  1. Click
    i_accept.gif
    in the dialog bar. The system creates the pattern, as shown in the next illustration.

Vlad,

Is it just me, or did all of your illustrations take a vacation?

can this be done with datum points and then reference patterned?

For any automation to be possible a logic should first be in place. As I understand from the above, patterning should be possible, but the quote is not possible, unless there is a logic.
