I would like to model a wheel and tire like on the next picture

ModelWheel.jpg

I don't know how I can add grips to the surface of the tire. Is it possible to use pattern tool? I would like to use this tool on the surface in red of the next picture

If it is not possible to use this tool, what is the way to do that?

I'am not sure to understand how I can use blend to draw the wheel. The only example I found for blend is to draw a bottle.

Do you have a example?

there is another way to do this

by projeckting method

1 create a reolve

2 create a curve (for grip)on upper side of protrusion and project it on protrusion

3 using sweep command create a grip

4 then use circular pattern

Toroidal bend is the way to go, draw a flat protrusion, draw one tread the pattern it on the flat protrusion

Use toroidal bend under the advanced menu draw the cross section shape .

It is exactly what I want to do but I don't understand how to use toroidal blend. I looked on the web to find a tutorial but I din't find. I looked in the ProE help and it is not very clear. Do you know a good tutorial about that?

Thank you

I have been following this interest as I too have been trying to work my way through this somewhat bent bend.

Geof,

the toroidal blend, explanation in pro-e is terrible. your best bet is to d/l one of the toroidal blend parts from the file section and then play with that. Its the fastest way.

Thanks for the Zip file. I tried it, but there is a step there that I am missing.

There is no query for a coordinate system or reference planes - only a sketching plane.

Select the sketching plane as shown in that figure. In the sketching mode only co-ordinate system is required. (In sketching mode: SKETCH>Co-Ordinate System). Without giving thisit willnot allow usto come out of the sketching mode.

Next to this, it will ask for two parallel surfaces.

I looked your example guma1. I would like to know how you merge the base surface and the grip (pattern). I tried to make a new model. I draw a surface, and one grip. After that I made a pattern with the grip had draw. I'm able to merge one grip with the base surface but I'm not able to merge the pattern of grip with de base surface. How I can do that? When I select the pattern and the surface the merge tool is not ON.
