i am new to wf3. i created an ass'y with a pin connection. how do i set the initial considitions to the closed state and open to be at 180 degrees. So when I drag the top, it opens and closes like it would if built?
Use Snapshots in Mechanism module for static view. Position the part(s) to the closed state, create snapshot, position the part to the open state and create snapshot.
Or you can use limits in the joint settings in Mechanism module, if you want to drag the part(s) to open position and for the part(s) to "stop" in fully open position.
When you define the mechanism, you should first set the initial position of the mechanism then select the joint's rotation/translation axis on the model tree (MECHANISM > CONNECTIONS > JOINTS > appropriate connection) and then RMB to Joint Settings. Joint Axis Settings dialog pops up. Set Joint Axis Position to zero with Make zero button. Then click Properties tab and enable limits. For the minimum set 0 and maximum angle or translation value of the mechanism for the maximum.
You should check if the minimum and maximum values are correct, i.e. if mechanism rotates or translates in the right direction.
There you go, limits are set. Now, if you drag the the mechanism it will move between those defined limits.
