pipe to rectangle? and 3D trajectory

I have two questions...unrelated.....

first...I am modeling baffels on an intercooler. It's a 3" pipe welded into the top of a sheetmetal pyramid (4 sheetmetal plates at angles to each other welded along the edges). I have blended a rectangle, from the side of the baffle where the plates and fins for the heat exchanger will attachto,to a smaller rectangle about the size of the pipe that is welded to this baffle. I can't get a clean merger between the pipe and the rectangle...To make it work I did the blend described below and then extruded a pipe through thewhople blend....after that I made a cut and everything worked out...there must be a better way though. I could cut the pipes hole out of the baffle, protrude a pipe, and surface blend them.......I want to do this with minimum features....any help? hopw would you guys go about this?

Second...I have a section that I want to travel through a trajectory that moves 3 dimensionaly.....in other words if I am looking at the sketching plane I want the section to move in at a specified depth, then travel in the x direction by a certain angle, then in the y direction. How do I do this? Can I somehow start a trajectory then pause it, change sketching planes, and then resume? Thanks for your help guys!!!

Hi

a picture of problem 1 would be helpful

problem 2 could be solved by a a datum curve through points?

yes your right datum curve!!!! thank you...i forgot about that option...

My other machine has the filel so maybe tonight I will post it.....but picture doing a blend with a rectangle as the first section then toggle to the next section and draw a circle....it doesn't like that due to the different number of sides.....but I want to blend a rectangle to a pipe basically....is that description any better??? I'll post a pic tonight...

Thank you!!!!

Both sketches must have the same number of elements, "sides". After creating your circle, divide it into four segments, probably at 90
