Placing hole near bent edge

This isn't a pressing issue, I'm just curioius as to why it is happening.

I'm placing a hole which just happens to fall tangent to a bent edge. Strangely enough, this error only occurs within a small 0.035" placement range. And of course, my dimension just happens to fall in this range.

For some reason it is starting the hole feature just below the surface I am placing it on. This covered area also appears to have zero thickness. And this only occurs between 14.55 and 14.90 (from the center datum). I'm guessing this is related to the hole being reletively tangent in this range. However my range of errors (0.035") is smaller than my bend radius (.06")

Just curious to know if anyone else has run across this or something similar.

Rb,

The 'best' method to add a hole to a sheet metal part (when the hole feature intersects the bend, as in your case) is to first create an Unbend (all), then create your hole, and then create a Bend back (all)

... and of course it's not even good practice in real life to put holes close to bent edges ...

So, do we just chalk it up to Pro-E quirky-ness, or does anyone know WHY this error might be occuring?

Like I said, i'm not concerned about "solving" this one. I'm curious to know why this happens.

Probably a function of your part accuracy. When the remaining thickness becomes less than the part accuracy Pro/E's boundary Rep gets hosed due to surfaces with incomplete boundary's. Try changing the accuracy and see if you can move the problem value around or make the feature fail completely. You might also want to try a different technique to make the feature. A revolved cut perhaps.
