Plain Holes with conical ends

How to generate a plain cylindrical hole with end coneusing standard hole insert feature and not using sketch hole option? Is any one using an udf for creating this feature?

I was interested in knowing the method for placing an unthreaded blind hole whose end is conical using Standard Hole Insert feature. With the defauld feature, I am getting flat bottom holes.

Anand_m_s,

See DrGallup's post above, all you have to do is untick the Include thread surface box and unclick the countersink icon

It would be nice if ProE had the choice of a drill point when you only did a straight hole for like dowel pins or just a blind clearence hole.

You can only use the standard thread size doing it that way. What if you want to put a hole in different then standard bolt sizes? For instance how would you do a hole for a6.5 mmhole?

Moldpro,

Use the following config option

hole_diameter_override& set to yes

Allows you to modify the diameter of the hole (see Dr Gallup's post, it is grayed out and therefore inaccessible as he is using it)

Thanks for the info that works better than sketching the hole. I would think ProE would be able to add something to the hole feature when you do a blind hole that you would have a choice of a drill point or flat bottom.Instead ofdoing a tapped hole and lying to it about the hole size.

moldpro,

One of the philosophies that PTC used for the dashboard (when they moved to this new and scary world of windoze based envoirnments) was that they would try to give as much functionality to each dashboard as possible. Some would say that they got a bit over-zealous in some cases

After saying thatyou getused to most of their new gimmicks in no time.

I never actually use the canned hole function. I much prefer a revolved cut and optionally a cosmetic thread feature. Far easier to get exactly what you want/need and not really any slower to create if you are proficient.

Hi All,

Was just looking at some of the enhancements for WF4. It has this option of drill point for blind holes.
