point cloud

Ok I did a search on all previous posts about this.

What I want is a point cloud without coordinate data.

First way is to use independent geometry, sample data from file and high density. Read in the pts file and you get a very nice, usableresult as shown below

The problem is the moment you accept pro creates the scancurves (scantools). Which makes the surface reconstruction more difficult then with points (personal opinion). see picture below

Another option is ofcourse to use offset from coordinate system as a non parametric array. The downpoint is the limitation of points. I got alot of parts to do and the amount of points is horrificly high.

Anyone got an idea to get the data as shown in the first picture please? I've got Flex3C WF2, but no restyle if it would be a solution

Thanks,

Nick

In demonstrations I attended software behind the 3D-scanner constructed an IGES surface file out of the point cloud and it was the IGES-file that was used to import the data. Can this be a solution ?

Alex

PS

High JPG compression of common CAD-interface-screendump is about the worst JPG can get, because of the high contrast between objects and background. GIF is a far better image format for this kind of work, it eliminates the "ghost" pixels around edges.
