Show the "Screen Capture Toolbar" which is new to 2008 and Click the Camera Icon to do a screen capture. This only captures the Display Area and not the feature manager, but that sounds like what you're looking for.
This toolbar also allows you to record video but it doesn't work to well for showing modeling tips.
