Pro/E Drawing File Header Data Read

The parameter &total_sheets reads something out of the header of a Pro/E Drawing file to get the value for total number of sheets for the drawing. Does anyone know what line of data in the header this parameter is getting it's value from?

Generally the data that is extracted from a file with & parameters is in the header, but not always. So, it may not be in the header - but it is in the file somewhere. Do you know where?

If you go back to release 20 format you can find the sheet info but it is below the header. At some point PTC did away with the old ascii file format so everything below the header is digital.

Having looked at a couple of drawing files pretty closely, I agree that the sheet data has been buried in the non-human readable section of the drawing file.

So - does anyone out there have a script that can be run with the drawing file as an argument and return a parameter such as total number of sheets?
