Pro/E won’t let me ’Save As Copy’

Ok so I'm adding gaskets to a multi-part sheetmetal assembly to package it as an aftermarket available assembly. After I've got all the gaskets in place (or before for that matter) and I try to save as copy with the new part designation I get errors. Pro/E is telling me that the assemblies within the model are referencing the previous model and I can go no further!?! This seems stupid to me, why won't it just migrate the references to the new filename?

Somebody please help me to understand how to fix this so I don't have to start from scratch and build the entire sheetmetal assembly from scratch under the new designation.

When you have a part (sub-assy)in an assembly that references the assembly, this part (sub-assembly) will need to be renamed as well. After you assign the parts (assemblies) that need new names, you will be able to save as copy.
