Pro/Engineer Wildfire 2.0 and Acrobat 3D

Hi all-

I am currently using the 30-day tryout version of Acrobat 3D (7.0.8) together with Pro/Engineer WF 2.0 M050. According to Adobe (quick search on Google), this product is "unsupported" with Acrobat 3D. However, I
have read on some forums (including this one) that people were successful in using Pro/Engineer WF 2.0 with Acrobat 3D.

When I attempt to do a "screen capture" of a Pro/Engineer part, I getan error (program crash) message titled "r3du3dExe". However, back on the Acrobat 3D application, a new dialog appears, as it attempts to
import the 3D geometry (as if no error had occured). When, I accept the settings in this dialog, a PDF appears with a thin plane without the object that was attempted to be captured.

Did anybody run into this problem and find a fix for it? Any special settings I need to apply to either Pro/E or Acrobat 3D to get this working?

Thanks in advance.

I guess I won't use the 3D capture mode then. I guess I can still use' File->Open...Duh. I'm new at this Acrobat 3D thing.

Thanks.

Guess there must be a file translator present to bring the 3D information from CAD to PDF and it isn't available (yet ? ).

PS

Went in to check and ProE is unsupported but could work provided you :

choose view>model tree to deselect it so that the model tree isn't captured

choose view>display settings>datum display and deselect all settings

choose view>display settings>system colors and deselect blended background

limitations : original orientation, origin and scale are not preserved, measurements may be incorrect
[/list]

ProE has never much adhered to Windows functionality and seems to (once again) be handicapped by it.

You can select the part or assembly form your working directory and drag it into your Acrobat 3D screen and it will create it for you if the screen capture way is not working for you.
