Problem Appearance Editor

I have a surface created in single feature, this surface is shared by inner volute area and outer body. I need to paint the inner volutearea and outer body with different colours. plz suggest how this can be done.


I have tried dividing the entity in sketch of the extrude feature. its not working.

you would have to actually make a cut into the geometry. Pro/ENGINEER circle is a NURBS surface in hemispheres.
