Problem with formats

lemnoid

New member
Here is my first post so... here we go.
I have a format in which i entered more variables like this : &a, &b, &c, and so on.
Each time i will use this format it asks a value for each of a,b,c, etc.

My problem is that i want that input to be in a specific order , i want ProE to ask me for the values of a,b,c,etc in a specific order that i want ( exactly a,b,c and not c,a,b). i guess it takes alphabetical order but i am sure that there sould be a way around this.

And second,
I want that for a , b, c to have a specific value list, like an integer interval.
If i will specify something out of that specific range, then i would like to get an error message and to be prompted to enter the value again.

Please help me with this one and i will appreciate your kind help.
Thank you .
Regards.

I think it takes them in the order they were created. Definitely not alphabetical. We have multiple formats of different sizes but with the same parameters & it prompts for them in different orders. I know of no way to reorder them.

Thank you for replying.
Is there a way to "force" whoever inputs those values to follow a specific interval ?

For a value i only need to be between 1 and 10 for example.
If whoever use that format inputs 11 i want to display an error message and force another input for the same parameter.

Can i display in another side of the sheet a value like x = a+ 50 ?
I know i cannot define relations in any format, how can i do this?

Thanks a lot for answering and i hope i will solve this thing out today.

Regards.

I don't think you can do that at the format level. Mostly formats show model parameters. Model parameters can be integers, real numbers, strings, etc & you can write relations to control them.

It could have been useful to be able to do that in format.

If i will enter an angle for cutting for example, i don;t want that the user who will use the format for a specific prt file (tube for example) , to enter a value above 135 degrees for example.
If there is a way around please reply.

Anyways, i appreciate your help, and yes, you were right about my first issue.

Regards.

when i use &a in a format
if i start a drawing using that format, the message

"Enter text for parameter "a" [NONE] :" shows up.

can i change it to something else ?

Thank you.

lemnoid,

you can create the parameters in the order you require, as it takes them in the order they were created!

for restricting the param values you can creat the restricted value parameters in part/assy.

restricted value parameters allow the user to provide a list of allowed values for a particular parameter. later the user will be able to choose a value among the values available in the drop down list. however the user can update the list anytime. this is something like what we do in excel!
