Problems with dies

I am trying to model a strap to hold up conduit piping however I have encountered a problem when it comes to modeling the raised surface on the strap. I have been able to successfully create the surface for the generic model however when i try changing the sizes it starts having issues with overlapping geometry and fails to work.I am just starting on sheetmetal so maybe I am just overlooking something obvious.

here is my strap and die.

Thanks for your help.

Ended up solving my problem. When using a die you must have the base surface equal to the thickness of the sheetmetal so in my die i had the wrong depth so I was using it as a punch instead, however after 2 instances the punch command stopped working. Once i switched my die around and actually used the die function instead it worked finally and now i have conduit straps
