PTC interview on Facebook

http://www.facebook.com/creo.cad < link to the discussion. I reached the maximum posts to a thread all in one hour.

This was a good idea, but there's a lesson to learn: social networks might be "cool" but they are probably not the best means to do online interviews with people that write a lot :D :D :D On the positive side, the interview is now on facebookl for everyone to read

Not true, you can access the page even if you don't have a facebook account...

Paolo

Not if you are on your work with a firewall that blocks social networks...

I'll reed it at home...

really hard to find there - apart of some marketing noise - something really valuable. Nice attempt to praise Creo thing but as long Pro/E is considered it is hard to expect there anything new.

Bart - you are most web active person related to this forum I know, that is great thing. However when could we, as members of this forum, expect more direct tips of Pro/E less anouncement about Design Engine new trainings?

I paid attention to Creo introduction movies and Elements Pro seems to be left with same interface, not to mention about lacking of real "sky rocketing" features.

This all about new suit of CoCreate, less - again - about Pro/E, Pro/Mechanica itself.

I think there will be more noise as related to marketing a second push when the configuration tools come out after October 2011....This really is the next generation of the communication tools. With a little imagination let me make an example. Imagine letting the sales staff configure the precise fire truck and the Pro/E assembly is just built complete with drawings.... of course it will take people like us to think of how these options will coincide. But through PDMlink non technical people will be able to produce complete drawings from any number of options is exciting. We have been doing this for years with Pro/PROGRAM but now non technical people will have that kind of access.

what I am afraid of most now is that you`re talking about stuff related to Windchill, which is in fact expensive and challanging "toy" to play with, but I understand the push of PTC regarding this direction.

Even if they`re - PTC - trying to hide it, it is visible that recently it has been Windchill which made Pro/E sales happen. Thus I understand the focus on PLM, Windchill particulary, not on Pro/E instead.

Some time ago I considered PDMLink as plug-in or extra module to Pro/E. Now things have changed, and it becomes more, and more appearent regarding strategy of PTC that Pro/E would become an add-on to Winchill stuff. Funny isn`t it? Contract with Hyundai towards to such thinking.

Personaly what am I most intersted in is solid, consistant interface, something which could play a role of part manager, I mean interface to bound things toghether without parameters and relations, to get quicker and better overview of geometry(too lot to discuss it right now), and at the end free or low cost but reliable soltuion for data managment integrated with Pro/E.

I would really like to replace Working directory within Workspace environment.

!!! "non-technical people will be able to produce complete drawings..." ??? Isn't thatan oxy-moron?

I don't see an error proof ending at the end of that tunnel.

I see where you are going with that, but I think it's a bumpy road getting there. I'm still using 2.0, and I can imagine the sales guys face when intralink and pro-e vanishes from the screen for no appearant reason right in the middle of a job.

Dangit. I think I'm about to be down-sized again.

FYI: Our guys have already done that whole 'sales guys creating drawings' thing. Only they use it for customers, so the customer can configure & create the drawing package/bom/models/etc. Maybe if PTC were to call them, they might share. (But only if I get a piece of the pie)
