Putting dimensions on layers

When in drawing mode, I created two layers. On these layers I put certain dimensions, so I could hide them. I saved the layer status and then saved the drawing. I exited pro e and the started it up again and opened the drawing. Everything was just as I left it. Then I went to the model and did an edit definition on a cut, redefined my depth and regenerated. When I went back to the drawing all the dimensions that were on layers were removed from the layer and displayed on my drawing. This creates a major problem because the layer contains around 100 dimensions. Also, the only way I can redefine a feature is to delete it and create a new one, otherwise my layer status in the drawing gets screwed up. Anyone? WF2.0

hi

we tried a same method what you have done ,but we didnt find the problem what you arrived.

so everything i.e all the dimensions were in layer.

Did you try it with the drawing open? Also I am working with an assembly that contains a family table, dont know if that has an effect or not.

I believe drawing. I have not dealt with this much. I created the layer in drawing mode and it is not listed in the model layer tree.

What is going wrong layers turn on or off. Layers get added or removed.

Check and see if this is checked. Under your layer tree go to settings->drawing layer status. is ignore display statues checked?

check this config option Create_drawing_Dims_only yes/no

is this a part file? do you change view's independently of the drawing? Is there curve or surface showing up that you turned off or vice versa?

Set to yes

Large assembly file, just a few views, top, bottom, sides A and B.

I think I have an answer. I am not sure which one fixed my problem, but I did two things at once.

First, in my drawing file, I changed a drawing option paramater. Draw_layer_overrides_model yes

Also, the assembly contains a family table, with one instance. It seems that everything gets screwed up when my instancehas a feature that getsredefined.Originaly I was dimensioning the instance, butdecided to make a model change in order to dimension the generic. When dimensioning the generic, I have only had this happen once, when a feature failed in the instance.

Aquick fix to the problem is to not have the drawing inmemory. This is very annoying though opening and savingthen closing anderasingeverytime I make a modification.
