Realtime springs’length???

Hi guys, thanks to all can give me an answer.

I 've assembleda spring (elicoidal sweep protrusion) in a assembly between two parts: one of this is fixed, the other can move along an axis coaxial to the spring (cylinder constraint).

I have defined the flexibilty of the length of the spring measuring the distance between the two parts but if, I assign a servomotor to the mobile part, the length of the spring doesn't change during the animation.

How can I see the spring changesits lenght during the animation?

Duke77,

"How can I see the spring changesits lenght during the animation?"

To see the spring animation you have to use the spring icon from mechanisms menu (select point to point option) not actually use the spring created in part modeling.

If you don't see the spring icon then you may not have MDO license.

Hi duke 77,

we needed to do this, so I tried a few ways.

Below is a clumsy way but it works.

step 1, decide on the no of frames

step 2 work out the overall size of the assembly.

step3 pattern the spring by the no. of frames using the size of the assembly as the gap between each spring and increment the size of the spring to suit the assemblyinterface change.

step4 assemble the patterned spring into the assembly.

step 5 using a (the) time base parameter build a relation to move the spring through the model.

This method can be used for any shape changing component.

Number of frames is the most critical choice to get right.

During mechanism runs the components position is updated, not the geometry of each component.

jbuckl,

Can you please send your assembly which depicts your approach.

Its interesting and I want to see it.

Thanks Mr. buckl! I' ve just read your reply. It's not an easy way but I 'll try to applyyour approach.

I know that MDO spring changesits lenght butin my application I have aspring withdiameter and pitch variations so I want to create my modelclose to reality and modeling my spring.

This is really a good forum. Hi everybody
