You think CAD is boring!! At least you have cool graphics.


It's certainly more difficult to get a position when you don't have experience. I'd recommend trying to get more involved with the PDM/PLM process in your current position. I'm sure the current admins would accept a volunteer.


If you want to learn on your own, you cansearch "plm software" and there is an infinite amount of information, from various vendors and consultants. You can probably also find some training webinars.


If you want some hands on experience, you can download Aras Innovator at www.aras.com. Its an open source plm software application. It runs on windows, and can be installed on the free version of MS SQLserver. I'd suggest trying to take the default PLM application and configure it to work for your current company, or even something you make up.
