Relation w/ family table problems

Hi,

I seem to have a problem I cannot find a solution for.

My top assembly can change shape by editing a dimension in a sub assembly. This works fine. Making a drawing of the top assembly, I want to show two different shapes using a family table. If I add a parameter and relationto modify this dimension in top assembly, and make instances using this parameter, the relation seems to overrule the family table

The only way to solve this seems to don`t use the same parameter in the relation and the family table, but I have no clue in how to link the dimension in any other way?

Easy for you? Any suggestions welcome!

Thanks

Create two or more instances of your sub-assembly for each version you want.

Add the sub-assembly component to the family table of the top level assembly

For each required instance of the top level assembly, enter the name of
the appropriate sub-assembly instance in the family table editor.

Dell_boy, sorry for the late reaction but that works fine! I didn`t know you could insert sub assembly instances within the family table of the top assembly!

Thanks!

No problem; glad I could help.

An interesting point worth noting is that swapping instances of a
component was not possible if you only had a Foundation licence, you
used to need AAX which was a big step up in price. However, this
capability has now been included in the Foundation Advantage bundle.
