While in sheetmetal mode, can I turn it back into just a standard part, and get rid of that nasty green line at the same time ? Plus I would like to leave it as a part.
u can convert a solid to sheet metal, but not the other way around.
but if u have a solid -> sheet metal then u can change it back
by deleting all the sheetmetal stuff from the model tree and then also
removing the conversion feature.
You may wish to suppress rather than delete the sheetmetal
features, that way you can easily return to sheetmetal.
This also allows the possibilty of family instance as sheetmetal
or solid as well as the same as simplified reps.
If you will be manufacturing the part an you want flat patterns, etc
you will need the sheetmetal features.
