Removing gaps between surfaces

New member
Hi,

I need to make a single surface from a set of 3 surfaces. All these three surfaces need to ultimately represent a single surfacewith a thickness of 0.1mm. I merged the existing surfaces, then thickened them, still there exists a gap between the surfaces. I'm unable to fill that gap, whatever I do.

Can someone suggest something to overcome the problem? I've attached my part file.

Thanks.2006-05-24_184420_leafletsurfaces.prt.zip

natewebb is absolutelly right. merge first then you only need two thickeness features. There's one thing i notice you can't give to much thickeness to the first surfacebutthe mirror you can give much more.

Hi,

That's exactly what I did. But still, the gap seems to exist. Any other techniques to remove them?

Yeah I saw the gap and I measure it and it's .0000070747 wide.I don't know how you cought that. But it's there.

Yeah, it's there. When I went to Analysis- Model Check, I got a pairs clearance as zero. How did you get this value? Anyway, I found the gap on zooming in close enough.

Any suggestions to correct it?

Thanks,

Delete one of your surfaces. Make a boundary surface between the open hole.

Change your part accuracy (not suggested). Perhaps I am telling something I should not :). I would call this cheating. For some unknown reason the way you created your surfaces left a slight gap (not uncommon). Use your remaining surfaces to create the boundary surface after deleting one of the surfaces.

Hi Donha,

I first made the middle surface. This gace me a kind of pseudo edge, which I used to make the surfaces at the sides. So which surface should I delete? Could you please explain in a detailed way what you actually mean?

Could you please tell me how to change the part accuracy? And also, how to determine how much gap exists between the surfaces? I used Analysis- Model check- Part clearance and this gave me a value of 0.00. But then when I zoomed close enough, the gap was evident.

Thanks,
