Renaming Parts and Drawings

Hi,

I created a part, then its corresponding drawing. I then renamed the part, and now the drawing is looking for the old part name. Is there a way I can relink the drawing with the newly named part?

Thanks,

Aaron

Rename the part back to the name the drawing is looking for. Then with the drawing in session rename the part and save the drawing.

Thanks, that's what I have done. I guess there's no way to retroactively alter the name the drawing is looking for.

For future, better you open your corresponding
part/assembly when working in drawing. There are some ideas
to solve this problems but it will effect your assembly
when you rename them. Everything is possible but takes
times.Thats why we have to start correctly.

Thanks

You have a part that you have renamed with the drawing not in session or not saved after the renaming.
Close all files, erase not displayed, open the part , rename back to original, now open the drawing - it should show correctly - and save.

Here is one method:

Open both model and drawing. (this puts both parts into Pro/E RAM)

Rename (select on disc and in session)the model, save and close the window.

Switch to the drawing and update the views and regenerate. (you should see at the bottom of the screen the new number for the model, but the drawing still has the old number)

Rename the drawing, save and close.

Clear the Pro/E RAM and open up your renamed parts.

One more, open drawing, save as and rename drawing, the part willbe save along with the dwg and new name.Thenreplace prt in the assy. drawing'll upload auto. in to the b.o.m then delete old dwg and prt.
