replace face

I have an interior wall in my part - interrupted by another feature - that needs draft. I cannot apply draft to both sides together since they have no common hinge (or ProE doesn't like it). When applying draft separately these walls are no longer coplanar. I remember that in 2001 I could correct this by copying the first face into a quilt and then use this quilt to trim the second surface into coplanarity. Now in Wildfire 2 this option seems to be no longer there (or is it a license issue ?).

Am I overlooking something ? I could of course cut away the second wall using geometry of the first wall but that seems like an awfull lot of feature for a simple need.

Any ideas ?

The option is still there if I am understanding you correctly. You need to make a surface copy of the surface you want to keep. Pick the solid surface you want replaced and pick edit->offset-> replace type, then pick the copied quilt.

It's probably something "advanced", coz I can't find the menu entries. Trying tomorrow with the most advanced license setup. Thanks.

you should be able to do this with a basic license I think. The offset type is a pull down in the dashboard once you have chosen edit->offset.

Finally found it !!!

You need to get rid of "smart" select before you can highlight the face to offset. Another case when smart is not that smart.

Oh, and replace is a dashboard option within the offset-edit-thingy ...

PS : once again going home smarter than I arrived this morning (probably forgot some things also but can't remember what they were

you can use the smart filter you just have to remember that it is a nested process. First pick features only, second pick is geometry on that feature. So you would just have to select the feature that creates that solid surface and then you will be able to select the solid surface itself.
