resolving rounds

hello everyone

as you can see above there is a window of round feature in resolve mode.

i can understand that the RED dot in fromt of one edge means that the edge is missing. the thing that i don't understand is; what is the ORANGE dot for...

the orange is a warning saying there is something wrong with the edge. There is likely something visible that doesnt look perfect on the edge. The two in orange could also be referenced to the one that is missing. It will typically still regenerate but you will get a geometry check from it.

cpiotrowski thanks for your reply but these orange dot features are not giving me any trouble. my component is not having any geom check and its absolutly fine. after resolving the feature. is i again redifine it then there is no orange dots.

I think the orange dots are edges that are missing but have been replaced by an alternate by Pro|E. In other words, this edge is in the same spot, we'll use it instead.

For example, if you have a square extrude, you end up with 4 edges on the surface at the end of the extrude. If you redefine the sketch, deleting one side of the square and drawing in a new line you end up with 4 edges again. However, the one you deleted has a new entity ID, even though it's in the exact same place. So, any round that referenced the old edge won't know what to do.

In the past Pro|E would fail saying the edge was missing. Now, Pro|E notices there's a new edge in the exact same place and uses it instead.

The orange dot tells you that there's a problem with the original edge, but there's an alternate.

The problem with this approach Pro|E takes, is that these alternate edges are buried in the round feature. If the edge Pro|E used moves enough, it won't be a good alternate and the round will fail. You might not have a clue why it did all of a sudden because that orange dot had been there for weeks.
