round thru curve

I am showing some students in a surfacing class the forum but during the discussion a round thru curve question came up. Have not done one of those. Anyone shed some light on that...

Bart I've posted a trailfile I mentioned and now was able to upload on the other site.

This will allow you to use set_trail_single_step yes config option if you want to demonstrate the Round Thru Edge functionality and have your class follow step by step.

Simple explanation is that regular rounds are tangent to the surfaces they end on while Round thru edge allows you Give a Radius for a Round equal to 2 from a flat surface to a boss half of that value and end up with the round hitting the surface at a 45deg angle or add an even larger radius and have it remain tangent to a face and going thru the edge changing the tangent edge diametr by using a larger radius value.

My trailfile should create a basic rectangular extrusion a cylinder and the Round feature then perform a File Open to allow Pro/E to pause and not crash.

Trail was created on WF3 trial edition but it should run on WF2 as well I couldn't check it because I only have WF2 student edition which doesn't allow trailfile usage.

Ignore the excess info I put in as help for people who haven't used trailfiles before.

It's been around forever. Here's a screen shot form 2001, but I know it was there before that:

I think you can also use it to create a variable radius round where one side's tangent edge is on the curve. I haven't used it enough to be sure.
