I hardly ever use Solidworks but i need to
export only the internal surface of a small length of pipe.

Does anyone
know if this is possible using solidworks?

We want to run some CFD on a piping
system and the CFD guys only want the interior walls of the pipe. I
have tried exporting a .step of only surfaces but that didnt work too
well. Any suggestions?(using solidworks 2008 x64 sp5)

Thanks

Try copying the inner tangent surfaces (Surface --> Insert --> Offset) and setting the offset distance to zero. You should now see a solid body and a surface body in the model tree.

Now use "Delete Body" (Insert --> Features --> Delete Body) and select the solid body to remove the solid body. You can now export the file as a STEP for CFD. I wound suggest making a configuration (Family Table) where one configuration is for manufacturing (delete body and surface body suppressed) and the other for CFD analysis.
