Set working directory

Hi to everybody

how i can set working directory ?

i set it by right click but after close the program and open it, working directory changed to my document. how can i set it without changing after closing the wildfire 4.0?

Thanks & regards

you must be just learning Pro/E?use your right click to set working directory when browsing for your directory.

You can also go to 'Edit' 'Set working directory' as well. I don't have Pro/E open in front of me but It might be 'File' 'Set working directory'

salam110 did say in his post that he can set it by right clicking.

I think he/she wants to retain the working directory even after shutting down & restarting pro/e.

If that is the case then it can be set to any location by editing the pro/e shortcut

just give the path of the desired working directory in the START IN tab

We have had the same problem for a number of years. The Start In tab appears to "start in" the appropriate directory, but by default when I try to save a new part, it will automatically try to save in My Documents.

This is the weird part: if I try to set my working directory (File > Set Working Directory...) it is looking at the correct working directory but unless I open the File > Set Working Directory... task it will not actually set the directory.

(Note - I don't even have to accept the working directory with OK, I can actually Cancel from the File > Set Working Directory... and it will work)

I have assumed this is either a quirk in our systemor bug in the software (since Wildfire 1.0 or 2.0) so I have trained my students to File > Set Working Directory ... > OK everytime the open the application.

I haven't found an actual, efficient way around this mundane task. Please let me know if there is a cure.

Put this in your config.pro to force Pro/E to default back to the working directory for all file open & save dialogs.

file_open_default_folder working_directory

Pro/E used to work just fine without that config option until PTC "fixed" it to work more like MS office apps.
