Ship models

Hello,

I know this isn't maybe the best place to put this, but can't think of a better one.

I'm using sometimes ship models to make simulations on how to discharge them with our E-Cranes.

I did model some of them, but find it realy difficult to get something that looks real enough. Not many exact drawings to find.

Now I'm needing a handymax size vessel, like in the picture.

So if somebody has something that could be shared, then feel free to send it

Thanks for ....

Hi Kev,

Thanks for the link, but the files there are almost exclusive for 3Dstudio-max I think (3ds extension) .

The free files are just some exotic stuff, nothing workable.

If you want to use a ship for simulation I would think a couple hours effort you would have a ship that you could use. Anything more complex might take a way from you simulation of what your selling. The crane.

to make the model look real enough ...

If we at deeplabs or design-engine were to come up with tha model and only had 24 hrs which is the case for our advertising agency costomers....

I would go to google earth and find a ship parked someplce on earth and also do searches on google with 'large' images selected to use for modeling references.

Picture enough, but that wasn't what I as looking for, just asked if somebody had a model they wanted/could share.

And those chinese, well didn't found any modelof thier ship.

Besides, we make the one and only E-Crane

You will find that the Chinese are mostly using PTC's CADDS 5i product for ship design, NOT Pro/E. CADDS is still quite prevalent in the rest of the ship building industry (such as shipbuilders Daewoo and Hyundai Heavy Industries in S. Korea). PTC is (supposedly) still marketing CADDS 5i toward that industry.

We have some sample ship files from Bath Iron Works in Maine(another CADDS user), but they are proprietary. Anyway, if you find some container ship CAD files, they will probably be CADDS 5 designs which you would then need to import into Pro/E.

Our office is on the Ohio River, and we are familiar with your E-Crane. I've seen them used for loading/unloading barges. We develop viewing software for CADDS which also has a DXF translator: www.draftware.com
