Simplified rep issue

Hi again
I have one more thing regarding simp rep
I have defined a simp rep A. When rep A is active and on my part tree, I right click a feature B (say a var section) I can't find "Edit Definition" but when I am on my Master rep, I found "Edit Definition" with same feature B, can some body explain. (Imp:Feature B is included in rep A)

simp rep (external simplified representation) is actually a
functionality in creo to reduce the load on memory if the size of
individual prt's is large.

this cause proe to slow down a bit.

hence in creo by making the asm an ESR you are essentially not loading all the data from the file.

EX: if your ESR type is Graphics Rep then only the display (colors) data
is loaded from the .prt file; geometric data is not loaded!!!

so creo has no information abou the geometry of the prt, hence you cant do edit definition.

personally i would request you to not use ESRs as they have many bugs
& are not practical to use if the size of your .prt's is less than
300-500MB.

hope that helps!

@caddiger: simplified reps are very useful on some situations. It is not only for reducing loaded memory.Could you tell some of bugs in that as you mentioned??

@sachin try to create esr from view manager.
otherwise if you try to create the esr from file->new->esr, there are quite different options in both the cases for creating the esr.
also if you notice properly the id of the top assembly is shown incorrectly.
also you cannot save assemblies with certain types like light graphics rep.
there are many more but i would rather care to report them to ptc than reply to somebody who has no quality called "curiosity".

@caddiger: When you don't know something that doesn't mean that it is bug.
And stop judging people's qualities in this forum. You may not be knowing that this simplified reps functionality is coming since many versions of pro-E and software is in very mature stage (If you simply notice many bugs, you must be missing something.)
Go ahead with reporting PTC for your called bugs and I am sure they will suggest you some learning classes

My replies for ur bugs:
Bug-1: There may be two different approaches.Use you are convenient with. That is not a bug
Bug-2: I don't understand where you looking for ID
Bug-3: You don't need to save any perticular rep.All reps are saved with file. There is a option to select any rep. before opening file to load any perticular rep.

Could you share many more bugs as you said.I am very CURIOUS to know. Also the people of this forum are.
