I was trying to decide where to put this, Rant and Rave or here, so I will start it here.
I had a old part drawing that we had a simplified view on, guess what WF 2.0 does not support this functionality, and than was told you cannot use a simplified rep in one of the drawing views need to create a FAMILY TABLE, this is freaking crazy! The always say that they don't lose functionality, in this case they did, not like you use it much but when you do its invaluable! Here is the PTC quip on it:
Description
-----------------
In Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire, the ability to Represent views (#Views>#Represent in previous Releases) has been eliminated.
When retrieving previously created drawings with represented views in Pro/ENGINEER Wildfire datecodes 2003020 and previous, the message: "Simplification of <PART> could not be created" is received, and the view(s) are automatically restored to non-simplified states.
As of datecode 2003050 and later, this behavior has changed so that previous display is maintained. Drawings created in earlier Releases with represented views will display simplifed when retrieved in Wildfire, datecode 2003050 or later. Represented views can be restored in Wildfire by selecting the view, #Edit>#Properties>#Restore. Once this is done, the view(s) is/are restored.
Note: The menu item #Edit>#Properties>#Restore is only available, when the drawing contains a simplified representation view from an older release. Otherwise it will not appear.
Alternate Technique
-----------------
See Resolution below.
Resolution
-----------------
Rather than using represented views in Drawing Mode, use part family tables in order to suppress features. For assemblies, both family tables or simplified represenations may be used.
Any ideas on how to handle part drawing views that are simplified BESIDES creating a family table?
