Simulating altered material properties.

Hi all, I have a component that I have a simple test to run on. The issue that I am having is that during machining a certain area of the component seems like its being affected in the form or Micro cracks in the material. I was just wondering if anyone has had an experience in simulating this. I was thinking that I could split the part and then assembly the different splits, bond the connection together. And then somehow use the material definition to simulated the microcracking??

Anyone any ideas?

You could simply split the volume into the proper number of pieces you need and apply material properties to each one independently. There would be no need to assemble various bodies together. To do this, use "Volume Region" inside Mechanica. Apply various material properties you need to represent the different layers of you part.

Cheers,

Chris
