Sketcher or Cosmetic for lettering?

Is it better to use Cosmetic Sketch rather than Sketcher only when creating lettering? How do you make it so the lettering is exported IGES as one color and not the color of the part it is placed on?

Thats depends on the purpose... some one uses letter as a single line sketch, they may use cosmetic feature. Some one uses block letters so they want to extrude the sketch and uses that extruded sketch as a separate part in the assembly.

If the lettering is done separately as a part means so that the color also can be given different by picking the surface of the texts in order to differentiate the part color.

I always use a sketch for my text. That way, if I need to extrude it laterI can do a "use edge" to create the geometry. Cosmetics don't allow you to do that.

I also prefer using a sketched curve. If needed it can be used again in another feature but mainly because acosmeticwill show thru the entire model unless you turn off the layer its on.
