sketching a 3d curve using intersect?

Checkmate

New member
does anybody know how to sketch a 3d curve using intersect and sketching it from 2 sides? for some reason intersect tool is blocked out in my edit menu. can anybody tell me what to do?

checkmate.

To create a datum curve by intersect, you need to create two surfaces, then using the control key, highlight both of them in the model tree. On the top toolbar, select "Edit", then "Intersect". That is all there is to it.

yea i tried doing it like that but i've been trying to copy this one which is from a part i have been copying and it seems to have been done by defining the sketches during creating the intersect and i'm not sure how it has been done, there doesn't seem to be any datum curves done before in the model tree.

this shows the reference box showing two sketches which have been defined

this is one ot the sketches

and this is the other

Hi Checkmate.... Which revision of Wildfire are you using? I had same problem with intersecting of surfaces and curvesearlier... with M040 revision of WF...

You can also project a curve onto a surface. To do this, you need to have the surface already there. From the top tool bar, select edit, then project. You can select a curve to project with, or you can create one by sketching it.

Hi Checkmate,

Based on your uploaded image the curve was a creation of a two projection curve, the reason that your intersect tool was blocked out is that it onlybe availableif you pick the datum or surface where you want to create a curve by intersect first.

Hi Check (but not mate)

In WF first u must select both sketches then the intersect command activate in edit menu man. Its nothing but select the curves first. U can check spoon part from spoon compitition forum, I uploaded there.
