sliding assembly

Your picture does not give clarity with respect to the mechanism requirement. To describe the mechanism you need to define the following...
1. Fixed component
2. Moving component
3. Mechanism constraint between the moving and fixed component.

Senthil, what you're asking for can be done in Wildfire 5.0 as a "belted" mechanism. I've never made one, so you'll have to read up on it yourself.

Prior to WF5 this kind of thing has to be faked with a slot-follower mechanism. See here for an example: http://www.ptc.com/cs/cs_25/howto/apm11043/apm11043.htm . In your case you would need to define the "tread" to be so small that a string of links joined (using pin mechanisms) appears to be a single deformable piece of material (ie, a piece of paper bending, or a piece of plastic, etc).
