specifying joint limits in 6DOF joints

I am working on a product that will move along the ground. I want to set up 6DOF joints for the ground contact points. I am having trouble setting joint limits.

This movie is from a PTC tutorial (WF2). The ball is assembled with a 6DOF joint with joint limits set in the x, y, and z direction. In a dynamic analysis, the ball bounces off the walls, never exiting the cube. 2007-10-22_195543_6DOF_ASSY.zip

Here is the PROE assembly for the tutorial. 2007-10-22_200850_ballbackup.zip

My assembly uses a motion skeleton and had 2 components. After failing to get 6DOF joints working, I supressed the components, added a ball, and tried to duplicate the PTC tutorial. I can set joint limits by picking a point in skeleton and a point in ball. But, the ball is not stopped by this limit either by dragging or by running an analysis.

This is my PROE assembly. I want the ball to bounceon the plane called ground plane. 2007-10-22_200443_backup.zip

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Bill

Hi,

Please, can anyone help me?

Here's an update. I opened the ball in cube assy. I deleted the 6dof joint. I then tried to recreate it. All options for joint setting are now greyed out. I have not got a clue what's up - maybe a config setting?

The ball in cube assy was created in wf2. I use wf3.

Again, please help me. I appeciate any guidance you might give.
