We just switched to WF3.0 from 2.0. The spin/ rotate operation is awfully slow when you are zoomed into a big assembly. IS there a way to change it in the config file.
Any suggestions? TIA
At this time, I don't know if there's a way to controll it. You could use several work-a-rounds...such as setting up a simplified rep in the view manager followed by File>Erase>Not Displayed. This my help with memmory issues.
View>Display Settings>... may also help too.
I had my company buy me a 3DCONNEXION SPACEBALL, which helps with the sensitivity of rotation and other things, ie, panning, zooming, etc. I LOVE IT!
Actually if you use the fast_hlr option it degrades graphics performance so use
fast_hlr no there are some others like save_triangles_flag no/yes which affects performance for software graphics like if you have option graphics win32_gdi instead of the open_gl default option.
display wireframe is by far the fastest option for enabling higher spin rates. When you use Shaded or No Hidden options Pro/E has to analyze the model to remove them from the display which is not done when every edge gets shown. fast_hlr when turned on looks nicer because it hiddes the hidden edges as you spin the model. Most people including me use this option to prevent the system from showing the view in it's easiest display mode when spinning the model which it does to reduce graphics calculations.
Spaceballs are great but I've found they've released very poor quality drivers that erase my settings when leaving the Pro/E window. All though they made the UI really cool looking the functionality has suffered. I recently erased the newer driver from my Work Computer and uploaded 2.8.2 and it works like a charm.
Other options to consider is to suppress uneeded parts and also to create a lot of saved views which are easy to use and make spinning the model manually seem useless. Also disable all the options in the Display Settings model display shade tab and other display options can speed up performance.
