basically you make a "log"
cut out all your grooves and pattern them along your "log"
then make it round via toroidal or Spinal
The difference here that you need to be aware of is how it deforms the geometry
toroidal will get the diameter value from the overall length, and u can also add a side profile.
Spinal gets its overall length from the 2 parallel planes which it then expands or contract the geometry inside to get approprate length of the spine, this will make ur tread look odd.
To make this easier i suggest you try either method with a basic LOG lookign feature ( just a rectangular box) then move back up the model tree to add all your tread features.
