split draft

Split draft? Can users make a split draft all in one feature in solidworks or do you have to create the split line, draft one way then draft the other way? That makes three features.

I'm not a Solid Works expert yet and they may have this option on later version. I know UG recently added the option which now can do the Split Draft in 1 feature and not 6.

I'm using 2006 version now and am hunting down the Split Draft option on the Feature Manager. If it's not possible yet you can do a Draft without split from your Neutral Plane Mirror w/o merge and then do a Feature Combine using Common Geometry.

This also seems to require 3 features but the Draft angle is driven by the first and there is only one draft feature. I do miss the fact that unlike Pro there is no double sided arrow choices Split line Draft arrow points in one direction or the other and there is no Side One, Two or Both options.

You can create a midplane draft for a single extrusion with the Mid plane option but we all know that it's best to do drafts later in the tree.

Maybe you are supposed to do this and Have the SWIFT technology resolve any failures when they occur.

I don;t mind braking up features into easier to undertand steps. It's ok with me to do it in three or more steps, I just want to know more!!! Im hungry to learn
