Stamping controlled by layers

I have a model that I would like to add extruded text to on different layers. I would like to be able add text to different layers and to hide and unhidethe layers to show different extruded text on the same model. It does not seem like this is possible. anyone have any idea's?

Thanks in advance

By adding extruded text and wishing it to be different by choice - that fits the definition of a tabulated part.

There isn't really any way to drive the selection of which stamp (removed material) is to be applied by simply choosing which layer is visible.

If it is acceptable that the stamping be represented by a cosmetic feature - then you can use layers to select one of many for visibility.

If the feature must be modeled as a material removal feature, then the best option is to either duplicate the model or use a family table.

Hhhhmm, tabulated part? Is this an option in ProE? Or are you just describing what I am trying to do. I really like the family table idea. Did not even think of that. Want to stay with the cut just in case our shop wants to mill it that way rather than laser engraving.

Thanks
