Start Parts

What's the best way to go about setting up a start part?

What I'm trying to accomplish is that I want certain parameters in the model so that I don't have to enter them on every page in a drawing.

I already stumbled apon the default templates, and was able to save parameters in there, so I can edit them, but is there a way to get it to ask you each time, so you don't have to remember to go in and edit the parmeters?

In other words....I would like a window to pop up and ask me to enter the values of each parameter.

I hope this makes some sense.

Thanks in advance!

I don't know the details but think if you'll search ("prompt", maybe) answers have been presented for this using Pro/Program and Trail files (seems I remember seeing a tutorial for using Trails).

... might also look for info on ModelCheck.

What i have been doing. I would start a part then added all my parameters in model. Thencan select designate in the parameters window (i usally leave unchecked). Than do a save as and save it in your templates folder (in a path simalar to this C:\Program Files\ProENGINEER\templates). Now you will be able to select this template when you start a new part. If you formates and bom tablessetup to pull thous parameters it should work.

That's what I thought to, but it's not working. It shows up in the parameter list, but it won't ask me when I start a new part.

Any Ideas?

Uncheck the use default template box when you create a new part & it should allow you to choose a template on the next screen, with all of the designated parameters where you can enter it.

The config.pro setting to prevent using default templates is

force_new_file_options_dialog yes
