Straight thread on conical surface?

ankarl

New member
Somewhere in WF3 or 4 PTC changed the behavoiur of cosmetic threads.
If modeled on a conical surface the thread becomes conical. Before it wasnt possible to apply a conical thread by using cosmetic thread so I guess this is an improvement.

However, now I want to put a straight thread on a conical surface but cant figure out how to change it.

Anybody that knows?

Thanks, not that often I need this so a "cheat" would be ok.

Its interesting though, make a straight hole and put a thread in it and then make the hole conic. If youthen edit definintion on the thread pro/e will ask if you want to keep a straight thread or convert it to conical. You should have the optionto do it both ways.

Die-cast cavity, need straight thread but without additional machining

I see. Then, you are talking about a minimum drafttaper in the hole. Let the computer do what it wants as to the cosmetic thread. Call out what you want for the tap size. Done.
