stuck on a project

This is a continuation of my last post but that one got off topic so I am starting a new one. I first off wanted to thank everybody for their help; I am making some great progress!

What I have done so far is create the model below by merging different boundary blends. I then used the thicken tool to give it the certain thickness I want.
My goal now is to parameterize this object so that I can change the shape in many different ways. I have some ideas on how to do this, but I

if i make boundary blends, how do i make the width a parameter? I can't figure out how to change width because the sketches want to stay on the same plane as their datums.
