surface area of an individual surface

I need to calculate the surface area of a vacum so I created a surface around the area of the vacum...I need to get the surface area of that surface now...I tried to just take the mass properties of the surface but it doesnt calculate the surface area so i needed to create a protrusion with a thickness to calculate the surface area of that and divide by 2? its not exact...can someone help me?? thanks!

Is the copied surface a quilt yet?


I it isnt, join the separate surfaces to form a quilt.


Then:-analysis>measure>area>quilt should do it.
