Dear all,
I am trying to patch an empty area.Please find attached the last solution I could find.Could somebody answer the questions below;
1-What is the reason for non tangentiality between small patches?Did I miss something or did I made a mistake?
2-Is there an other solution for this patching?
Best regards and thank in advance. 2010-10-29_101150_o_t_67.prt.rar

in general there are a lot of or at least couple of approaches one should consider while facing n-sided patches. True is even Pro/E includes extra tool for these issues - check Advanced tools. Frankly speaking this tool stinks...

anyway, please check my page for available tutorials regarding n-sided surf solutions

and now, your particular example, I developed two quite intresting examples

first

this one has extra draft surf to intrudes a little tuning control over the final surfaces. Spine curve is created by me, and this is very important - This curve plays one of the major roles in this model.

step 2

step 3

second example bases on spine curved created as composition of two curves

step 1 - auxiliary surfaces are created

step 2 - project, trim boundary blend

If they dont interesect ( iow, just "join" typ of merge) then you can merge more than 2 surfaces at once. ( thinkt that opion came in wf4)

Dear Jacek,
Thank you and thanks to polska forum members,
English version of polska forum is not working.I could not understand details but basicly results are understood.
My steps to finalize bottle models are;
1-Constructing surface of a quarter.
2-Patching.
3-Merging.
4-Axis patterning
5-Merging of patterns?
6-Thickening.
7-Rendering.
After merging a quarter is it possible to pattern and do I have to merge four pattern elements?Is my way a good way?Merging is a must for thickening I think.
Best regards.

I can`t say patterning is necessary. The same result could be achieved by mirror

but, no matter You choose remmember - PLAY ONLY WITH QUILTS NOT FEATURES!!!

having this in mind, any time, while MERGE, TRIM, PROJECT, COPY, etc try to change Filter selection from Smart to Quilt instead

if You consider Pattern, first You must copy final quilt > Copy > Paste. Then this copy can be used in Pattern while, this tool is feature based not geometry
