standard symbols like boxing basic dimensions are available in the dimension properties menu. I need to use a hexagon symbol with text inside to indicate notes that apply to the dimension. Are custom symbols (or a hexagon symbol) available in ProE WF3.0?
The best key terms to use for searching through the help files are:
generic symbol and variable text and symbol gallery. The terms custom symbol is "pretty weak".
The help files are a bit unclear about how to add variable text. Variable text is text that can be changed in the drawing, like a note. Through trial and error, this is how to add variable text to the symbol:
After creating the symbol (via symbol sketcher), click on insert > note
then create the note with backslash in front and behind.
example: \text\
any text outside the slashes will be constant text and cannot be modified in the drawing without redefining the symbol.
