Symmetric part

hello everybody.

my question is maybe dumb, but... is there a possibility to fully mirror a part file as a separated .prt file, linked to the "father" part?

or the only way is to mirror the part inside the part itself?

thanks for your answers,

Edo

Hi edo777

Make an assembly, insert the "father part", then create a component inside the assy environment and select the mirror option, and select your father part.

When selecting the reference plane/planar surface to mirror about choose this reference from the "father part" and not from the assembly. This way you can erase the assembly.

thank U for suggestion guys,

the question was probably quite stupid, but I'm used not to create parts in the assembly..!

Regards,Edo

If you are using WF3 you can just open the part you want to mirror and then go to File->mirror part. The previous responses have described the way to do it in versions prior to WF3.

You can erase the assembly and not lose the reference?

If you assemble the component at Default position and mirror about the parts datums or surfaces, then there is no reference to the assembly and you can delete it without losing the mirrored part.
