Templates with Family Table

Hi.
I made this model of a bent tube that has an instance of it unbent.
I am currently using it as a template for the start of all my bent tubes,
however, the new part does not copy the unbent instance and I have
to go into the family tables and create it every time.

Is there any way I can get the template to copy the unbent instance
to my new part automatically?

Thanks.

If you want the part, the fam table instance and the drawing, back it up into a separate directory, rename both the part and the instance to what you want, and then in windows move it to desired directory would be my approach.

thanks sip,
but i was looking forward to just using the NEW command,
and have everything there already, rather than opening
up the part and backing it up each time I want to create
a new model for it.

Why do you want an unbent instance?
Are you getting developed length or bend table
from it? Do you already have drawing views
associated? Enough with the curiosity questions ...

Pro/E gives you a 'table info from the start model
will not' message, as you've probably seen. What I
think I might do is: Create the start part family
table instance (I'm assuming all you are doing is
suppressing feats, Groups can be selected as Table
Features to simplify things a bit) then delete it
(the instance, not the table, to save you same name
woes). To use it; Open, Save a Copy, Place the copy.
Open the newly created part and create Instance Row(s),
hopefully just having to "Y" or "N" one or two columns.

... Also sorta wondering if part simp reps wouldn't be
as good as or a better way to go ...
