Just wanted to let you all know that I went to the UK Premier of the Incredible HULK last night and I thought it was Excellent. Really reminded me of when I was a young Pup growing up with the TV series staring Bill Bixby and Lou Ferigno. The tv series soundtrack was included, and the usual cameos from Ferigno and Stan Lee.

HULK really kicks ass this time round, a great improvement over the 2003 movie.

Always wondered why MCAD doesnt have a General Discussion Thread ... So Apologies to the MCAD hardcore that may shout at me for blocking up the Modelling Section

Skint, you CLEARLY have too much time on your hands. Getting sentimental, too.

Just kidding!!

Thanks for the find, it's amazing what can be done these days. Quite educating.

that mr hulk dude is probably modeled in Maya. What does cgcociety say about that?

Modelled in 3ds max, rendered & finished off with mental ray, Photoshop. Some of those guys on CGsociety really are amazing at what they can do.

Bart, do you, have you used Maya ? I have access to a copy at work and may have a play around, although I havent got the time to learn new software if the learning curve is so difficult ..any ideas how hard it is to pick up ?

I have used 3d studio (pre MAX) since 1989 and Maya since 2000...

If you look at our Maya class online, notice the main image at the top left of the page is a Pro/E screen shot of the part molded in Maya. Our classes are often character oriented but most of the time it's product designers learning maya to develop products.

Hey Bart, I missed this response !

Didnt know you guys were into Max / Maya too. You have your thumbs in many pies dont you

.

As somebody who has Never touched either before, and my only 3D experience is with Pro-e, would you have a Tip or Suggestion as to which of the two, Max or Maya, you believe is easiest to learn on ? I would love to be able to do character creation at some point, which do you think deals with this best ?

From just recently looking into maya, its my understanding that this program is best suited to those more interested in Animation, would I be right in thinking I would best choose to learn 3DSMax if I were to just stick to modelling / image creation ?

If you have any decent Maya Beginners .pdf files you can throw my way let me know

EDIT : Oh and bart, which one is more fun to use ? Any idea which has the best access to free tutorials and support etc ? The only reason I have started with Maya is because we have a copy in my office, we bought it when a new guy started and said he was amodelling maya expert, he left 4 weeks after joining

so now that copy of Maya 08 is sat on my desk !!
