Trying to make a power sander

Hi folks!

First of all, i'm a noob:)
I'm trying to make a sander in Pro-E and this baby has some difficult features.

Look here:

This is the feature i'm having trouble with:

Sadly, i'm running out of time - this part has to be done by tuesday, so I will really appreciate any type of help!

Thank you for your time!

Do you know any online tutorial? As I said, I'm a noob

KredeDK, I know your a noob so if this is above your head let me know. If you create as best you can curves that would represent the geo inan x and y manner you could then create a boundary blend for this surface and then blend it into your existing geo. see image below.

This method is new to me and i'm not sure how to start. I just tried to make some datum planes in the x and y direction, and then use the sketch tool to draw the lines. Is that the way to do it? If you have seen the part I uploaded, you would notice that I need to remove some material. Can I do that with this feature?

Maybe it would be easier to build the sander again just using curves?

I wonder if you can upload the part here (use the floppy button on right side above. I couldn't download it. If the file size is too large, suppress all the features first.

I don't know if I'm in a position to help, but it may help someone else who is willing to help you but couldn't download it.

Hmm, I have been given a new deadline, and I have still not solved the problem. Sad but true

It would be nice with some online tutorials. Do you guys know any?

Thanks for the help so far!

no... no...

First off do you see how complex the surface has become? Those
interior purple lines are called isoparms or as PTC calls isolines.
I think we can build that surface w/o extra complexity. Simple =
makes you look smart

Secondly this type of part should start out as curves then you go to surfaces
then you go to solids. Makes things much more simple in the
end. Often engineers get confused that more features = more
complexity. That is not the case more features more
simple features.

Let me explain.

A Pro/E Solid blend for example is made up of a bunch of small simple
sections. If something goes wrong you have to wade thru many things
to locate the problem. If you break the same thing into simple easy to
understand curves and boundary surfaces you take one very complex feature and
break it up into very easy to understand multiple features.

Tweak Replace is a specific tool that is often abused for hacking.
Generally a tweak replace is an attempt to hack at a solid.

mcgowanp: I would argue that those are two separate
surfaces in their tangible form so a designer should model both separate in
it's proe form too.

Bart, that was what i was trying to explain to krede in the image with the lines just extending slighly past the surface.

Krede -Bart is right, you do have an very unusually high amount of iso lines for a relatively simple form, as stated there really is only 2 mainsurfaces and both of these would be independant of each other at this stage. Sorry for my earlier post, I had assumed that you already had the body made and I was talking about the cut in ergonomic surface. I tried to open your part Krede but it must be in WF3 as I;m getting an error message and it wont open.
